Frequently asked questions
How do I register with NOAS Sailing Club?
You fill in the online registration form on our website. We then contact you to arrange an introductory meeting and inform you about the next steps. The process is simple and completed quickly!
What ages does the club cater to?
We accept athletes aged 7 and up. The Optimist departments are for children aged 7–15, ILCA for ages 12+, and Windsurfing for teenagers and adults. There is no upper age limit!
Do I need to already know how to sail to register?
No! We welcome complete beginners with no prior experience. Our coaches take care of basic training from scratch, in a safe and well-organised environment.
What equipment does the athlete need?
No personal equipment is required at first — the club provides boats and basic gear. As the athlete progresses, we recommend acquiring a personal wetsuit, life vest and helmet. Our suggestions per category: • Optimist: neoprene wetsuit, life vest, helmet • ILCA: neoprene wetsuit, gloves, waterproof boots • Windsurfing: neoprene wetsuit, life vest, trapeze (for advanced riders)
Where is the club located and when do training sessions take place?
Our facilities are located at Limeniskos Artemidas, Attica (37.9687° N, 24.0083° E). Training takes place mainly on weekday afternoons and weekend mornings. The exact schedule is announced at the start of each season.
What are the registration and subscription fees?
Membership registration is €40 per year plus a €30 annual parent membership. Monthly lessons: beginner Optimist €70, pre-competitive Optimist €100, competitive Optimist €120, SUP €80 (or €15 per hour), Windsurfing €80 (or €50 per hour). Families with 2 or more athletes get 10% off lessons. For ILCA and private adult lessons, contact the secretariat (+30 22940 83930).
Do you take part in races?
Yes! Our athletes compete in regional and national championships in Optimist, ILCA and Windsurf. NOAS has hosted the Greek National ILCA 6 Championship (2022 and 2024) and the Greek National Slalom Championship (2022) at Artemida, and organises the annual OPEN Panhellenic Inter-club Regatta «Marineia».
Does my child need to know how to swim?
Yes, basic swimming ability is essential for safety reasons. They don't need to be an excellent swimmer, but they must be able to float and swim a short distance.
